When I first watched this video from our State’s Official source for Travel Planning: VisitFlorida.Com, I was curious to count and calculate things to do and attractions in Miami in any of the famous bloggers’ sequels: Top Ten Things to do, 20 Most Suggested Attractions, Bucket List of 50 Things to Do in Miami, etc. But in the end, it wouldn’t count. Just for one reason: “There’s plenty to do and enjoy in Miami that 24 hours would not hold sufficient”.
24 hours in Miami can seem like a candy on a desk at an elementary school. Miami is the place of fruit stands, fritters, Cuban food, airboat rides, a paradise of glitz, glamour, and nightclubs, a preferred destination for contemporary art fairs, and the world’s most recognized spot for music events and concerts.
But if you want to spend a week in Miami and would like recommendations of top things to do & attractions in the most beautiful and cosmopolitan city in South Florida, here are some endorsements of what not to miss:
Shop or (window shop) and Stroll in South Beach:
Retailers high and low line South Beach’s wide outdoor pedestrian shopping and eating zone between Alton Road and Washington Avenue. Whether it’s luxury designer boutiques, concept shops or outlet malls, Miami is a little piece of shopping heaven. There are also local specialty shops of high value and quality. Let’s be honest, we all love malls and Miami has many of them and will actually have the biggest mall in America very soon, but being in this city calls for more than spending 3 or 4 hours of a day running up and down glitzy brick-and-mortar walls.
Dining in Miami:
There’s no specific destination to say, this is the unique spot in Miami to enjoy a great dining experience. Everywhere you will find restaurants that will make you go hmmm, but as you want to know what to do in Miami in 24 hours, let’s get you to the most popular dining areas in Miami: South Beach, Coral Gables, Brickell and Design District.
In South Beach (SoBe) you will find restaurants and luxury oceanfront dining spots that mirror the high-end shopping in the area. It is the mecca of many restaurants that have transported here and sit next to each other for miles along the beach, providing casual to swanking stylish eats.
Coral Gables has heralded a wonderful era of fine dining in Miami with so many restaurants, pubs, cafes and lounges with funky foods and young chefs that impress. This South Florida’s world class dining destination holds a variety of French, Japanese, Italian, Thai, Cuban, Brazilian, Chinese and American restaurants, just to mention a few where you can catch a casual breakfast, lunch, brunch or diner and have an extraordinary experience.
Brickell provides upscale, modern and authentic cuisines dedicated to delivering the best ingredients and service around the country. Restaurants here boast to have stunning views, signature cocktails and for being locally sourced sustainable so everyone will truly enjoy a memorable dining experience from a light snack to a gourmet meal.
Design District is an upscale shopping destination featuring world-renowned designer shops, art galleries & chic eateries. Very modern and walk-able, this area is comprised of some of the best restaurants and lounges in Miami serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner in alfresco dining spaces which are perfect after a stroll through the Design District’s shops.
Things to do: Entertainment, Tours and Attractions:
No other city in America will beat Miami in things to do and trendsetting nightlife. There’s plenty to do whether is a day at the beach, a night on the town or activities with kids. Miami hosts numerous annual events drawing crowds of millions but thrives economically on many daily tours and attractions that range from sea activities, educational walks, to motorized adventures.
You can engage in a South Beach and Art Deco Tour, a culinary food tour, linger around the Clothing-optional Haulover park that has long been a favorite of laissez-faire residents and vacationers or get outside and explore Miami in the fresh air and great outdoors like: Boat sailing, kayaking or canoeing, deep sea fishing, touring the city in antique cars, sailing on a Pirate Duck vessel to get to know Miami by sea and land, segwaying your way along South Beach or reconnecting with natural Florida through the Everglades.
Miami is where everyone comes to party. Worldwide known for fun & high-energy nightclubs, and also a thriving local bar scene, Miami’s nightlife and entertainment is one of the highest ranked in the country. Any night in Miami will be packed with excitement, and adding a Spanish flair for all-night fun, warm weather, big beaches, skimpy clothing, and perfect mojitos is to go loco. You’ve seen the celebrities on E! and Access Hollywood, casually sipping drinks and looking oh-so-chic at South Beach. That’s not a reality show, that’s a true routine any week of the year in Miami.
So in Miami, this dreamland at the southern tip of Florida, you can choose your own adventure. It is a fine place to drink and dine; a fun and gorgeous place to spend a few days, or even a few weeks.
And did we mention the beach? This is after all why most people basically come to Miami. Well, read a bit more here. You’ll love to know why!
